private lessons

Dear reader,

HUM District Music, founded in 2014 by me, Celesta Tow,  is an independent voice and performing arts studio specialising in all things  contemporary voice: lessons, supporting instrument studies like piano and guitar, music production and music directing.   HUM students take private lessons in our Columbia Heights Washington DC studio, virtually or both.

4 C's of the #HUMdifference

commitment: HUM members are asked to commit to regular lessons  for a season.  Our Membership runs September-June though admission is rolling and memberships can be prorated.

cost: HUM works on a per-relationship model (as opposed to per lesson.)   Our students live rent-free in our brains whether we like it our not lol so we cap our studio at 20 students. The membership is all inclusive: private lessons, books, app memberships, sheet music,  audition coaching; we'll even get you a mini-speaker if you don't have one!    For our current membership tuition please check out this google doc.

calendar: We follow the HUM Academic Calendar which closely resembles the DCPS calendar and live by google calendar invites for the weekly stuff.  Each member has an exclusive, regular time-slot sent in a google calendar invite ie  Mondays at 3:45-4:15 pm.  Lessons run September-June and in July and August the studio is closed though your teachers will be available to help with anything via email.  Wheeeeeee!  For our HUM Academic Calendar please head to this link.

consult: OK if that all sits nicely with you, let's get you on the calendar for a complimentary mini-lesson + consult! We would so love to meet you and hear your voice or noodle around on the piano or in a DAW or just get started.  Let's get STARTED, k?  Click here to fill out an inquiry form (if we don't get back to you right away we'd appreciate a reminder-text to Celesta at 202.415.6167... once the school year rolls out or during summer or when we're music directing a show response time can be slowwww.   Just keep pestering us-we like it.)

I'm honoured that you're reading this lil letter and looking in to our studio.  Voice health, creative expression, audition preparation, range development, embodiment practice, supportive instrument training, song coaching... it's all so good! No matter *why* you're here just know that I think it's awesome that you're doing the research and going after it.

Musically yours,

Celesta Tow
